About Us
The concept for SPNK began when four moms met the way moms do … at playgrounds, school drop-offs, and cheering side-by-side during kids’ athletic activities.
What started as small talk quickly turned into something much more meaningful after discovering the similar challenges we were having navigating the complexities of raising our neurodivergent kids.
It could have stopped there, but then…we had an idea.
WHAT IF WE COULD:
Extend this safe circle to other parents
Help people learn what neurodivergence really is?
Show caregivers that they don’t have a “bad” kid, just a kid who’s struggling to fit into a community that doesn’t understand what it means to be neurodivergent.
Help parents navigate the confusing world of special education in schools.
Find compassionate experts to provide guidance around supporting kids with neurodivergence.
Create trusted resources and a community to help parents feel seen and grounded and confident in their ability to nurture their child.
After many, many conversations, late-night text messages, and focused research, SPNK (Supporting Parents of Neurodivergent Kids) was born.
WE QUICKLY FOUND:
An amazing community partner in the Portsmouth Public Library, who gave us valuable support and a location to host our educational series
Professionals with expertise in so many of the areas we wanted to talk about - schools, advocacy, mental health and more.
A community of support that we wished had existed when we first began our own neurodivergent parenting journeys.
SPNK now serves the Seacoast of New Hampshire and Maine, bringing information, resources, and community to families and caregivers of neurodivergent kids, reminding them that they don’t have to do this alone. SPNK is here to help.
